The PowerSport Institute, at North Randall near Cleveland, Ohio, has become the first motorcycle industry training institution to become an official partner of the World Championship of Custom Bike Building.

Campus Director Bernie Thompson said of the link-up that "we share the aims of the World Championship. Through our unique and extensive range of course options we seek to promote and develop motorcycle maintenance and engineering best practice.

"The World Championship is a forward facing program that recognizes, showcases and rewards excellence. We here at PSI are the first motorcycle training facility to formally train and accredit students to achieve the skills necessary to customize motorcycles. We therefore see partnering with the World Championship as a motivation for students to engage with customizing best practice and a reward for their achievements by seeing their project showcased to the world at Sturgis."

Students at PSI are building and modifying a "chopper/bagger" style custom bike for entry in the 2011 World Championship, with generous support from aftermarket sponsors such as S&S Cycle, Baker Drivetrain, ACCEL, JIMS USA, Daytona Sensors, SuperTrapp, Diamond Heads, Dunlop, Ride Wright Wheels, Gardner-Westcott, Tricky Air, Arlington Plating Company and Frame Lock.
